Every now and then, there is a person who can so deftly navigate the subtle nuances of animal behavior that they begin to speak their primal animal language (known as "glarph"). These interspecies shapeshifters can move in and out of the animal world with relative safety and enjoy all the benefits of being in nature without all the drawbacks of being eaten.
One of these glarph-speakers is Timothy Treadwell, known affectionately as "Grizzly Man." He spends his summers in Alaska, bonding and communing with grizzly bears, as well as writing books and making documentaries about bears. Had Timothy Treadwell done better in his tryout for the role of Woody in Cheers, he might never have become a glarph-speaker (or a heroin addict, according to his memoirs), but isn't life full of what-ifs.
As it is, though, Timothy Treadwell lives with the bears, who let him touch them and even romp with their babies from time to time. That would be fun. Sometimes he has to hide from the National Park Service, which has issued several citations for various infractions, such as having food in his tent in bear country and harassing wildlife. But for the most part, he camps and just enjoys the bears and speaks glarph and sometimes appears on David Letterman or The Discovery Channel.
Which leads me to wonder... where is Timothy Treadwell now? Did he just fall out of the public eye like Captain & Tennille? Or... what's going on? If anyone has any tips, please send them in to they want to kill us, because despite the name, we love it when they don't actually want to kill us.
